Book Club Era crewneck for cosy reading season

Cozy Reading Season: The Fall Book Lover Starter Pack

Summer reading is a lie we tell ourselves. You bring six books on vacation and read one and a half of them while getting sand in the spine. It's fine. It's not real reading.

Fall reading is real. Something about the dark coming earlier makes a book feel less like an obligation and more like the obvious thing to do with an evening. Nobody has to be talked into it.

Why reading actually goes up in the fall

Part of it is structural. Summer is scheduled — trips, camps, cookouts, the general obligation to be outside enjoying it. September takes all that away and hands you back your evenings.

Part of it is atmospheric, and slightly harder to defend, but everyone knows it's true. A book is better in a chair by a window when it's gray outside. This has never been proven and does not need to be.

And part of it is that fall is when libraries and bookstores get good again. The summer reading program ends, the fall releases land, and every indie bookstore in the country puts a table of hardcovers by the door with a sign that says something like "cozy season."

The fall book lover starter pack

Book Club Era

September is when book clubs come back from hiatus, usually with a text that says "ok are we actually doing this again." The Book Club Era Unisex Tee is the warm-night version and the Book Club Era Unisex Crewneck is the one you'll actually live in from October onward.

The Book Club Era Tote is the functional piece. You will check out more books than you can finish. This is not a flaw in you, it's a flaw in the library's checkout limit for not being lower.

Buy Me Books

Fall is the beginning of gift season, and the Buy Me Books Unisex Tee does your holiday communication for you months in advance. Also available as a Women's Tee, a Unisex Hoodie, and a Women's Crop Hoodie.

The hoodie is the correct object for this season specifically. Hoodie, book, blanket, something warm to drink, no plans. That's the entire fall program.

Libraries are Punk

Library usage spikes in the fall and library people are among the best people. The Libraries are Punk Unisex Tee, Women's Tee, Unisex Hoodie, and Women's Crop Hoodie cover the range.

Worth noting: Banned Books Week runs October 4–10 this year, and this design has a lot to say about it. More on that soon.

Just a Girl

The Just a Girl Unisex Tee, Crewneck, and Hoodie are for the reader who is currently deep in something with a fae warrior in it and does not wish to be perceived or questioned.

Hot Girl Summer, retired but not gone

The opossum with the stack of books on our Hot Girl Summer Women's Crop Hoodie was always a fall creature honestly. Nocturnal. Reading too much. Slightly unwell. The crop hoodie is more useful in October than it ever was in July.

For the small readers in the house

Fall is also when kids' reading habits reset — new teacher, new library day, new reading log taped to the fridge.

The Bookworm Youth Tee, Youth Long Sleeve, Toddler Tee, and Baby Onesie run the whole range. The I Already Know That Youth Tee is for the one who read ahead, and the Libraries are Punk Youth Tee is for library day.

And the ICFR Baby Onesie and Toddler Tee — I Came From Readers — are still the best baby shower gift we make for a bookish family.

The rest of the collection

Everything above lives in the Book Lover Collection, which is 32 pieces deep and runs from onesie to adult hoodie. Printed to order, ships in about 3–7 days.

Now go put something on and sit in a chair for four hours. It's the season for it.
